INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF FOLK DANCES
The First International Festival of Folk Dances
“Sarajevo 1998” was held in the period from 4th
to 6th July, 1998. It was initiated by
“Sarajevo Center for Culture” and supported by the
Ministry of Culture and Sports of Canton Sarajevo.
This festival is of high importance both in its
cultural and tourist scope. Thus, the institutions
above mentioned decided that the festival is to be
held traditionally and improve in all its segments.
In co-organization with “Sarajevo Center for Culture”
and aided by Cultural Artistic Association of Canton
Sarajevo, “Sarajevo Arts Agency so far realized
ten festivals of this kind. This project managed to
achieve one of its main goals which is the vivid
cultural cooperation with the guest ensembles coming
from regions in brotherhood with the City of Sarajevo
and B&H. So far, the Festival hosted 56 guest
ensembles and 35 of the local ones.
